Brighton Boilder Installation

Emergency Boiler Installation at Marina Site Following Fire Damage

Following a recent site riser fire and subsequent damage to the existing plant room boiler flue section seals, IJB Engineering was called upon to urgently install a temporary heating solution at the Marina address.

To restore critical services and maintain heating performance, both a duty and standby hire boiler were deployed and positioned on site. Our team began by removing PN16 DN20 blanking plates from the flow and return isolation valves located on the bolt headers, preparing the system for connection.

Custom fabrications were produced, consisting of two assemblies featuring 90-degree bends, welded reducers, and flanges to interface with flexible flanged pipework. To protect and support this pipework, wooden sleepers were sourced, cut, and strategically positioned as support blocks.

Over 200 linear meters of flanged flexible piping were carefully bolted together, running from the temporary boiler location to the plant room manifold. A single core-drilled hole through the plant room wall was formed to allow the final pipe connections to be made internally.

To ensure public safety, Heras-type fencing was erected along the roadway and adjacent car park, clearly separating the low-temperature hot water (LTHW) pipework route from pedestrian access.

The full system was filled and tested prior to boiler commissioning. Our engineers provided hands-on assistance during the commissioning of both temporary boilers and worked closely with the site’s PU and plant room personnel to ensure seamless integration.

This rapid response and professional execution highlight IJB Engineering’s continued commitment to safety, service continuity, and high-quality engineering solutions in critical environments.
